Rachid Taha

Made In Medina

Mondo Melodia

Rachid Taha, born in Algeria, bred in France, is a man without a musical nation, showing no particular preference (or reverence) towards Arabic, Western, or African cultures. As a result, Made In Medina not only blends a variety of musical motifs, but does so in a seamless fashion, making rolling Arabic r’s and guttural h’s sound right at home against a blast of guitar fuzz chording and digital beats. Produced by Steve Hillage (Gong, System 7), Made In Medina is intensely danceable and unarguably exotic, a tour de force, a melting pot where Detroit house boldly carries a rai sample.
