Van Zant

II

BMG

I’m not even sure why I ended up writing about this disc, but here it is. Spreading a rockin’ “new country” sound through my speakers. Hints of classic rock bands filter through the electrified twang, and the grooves take me back to some old dirt roads where I could be runnin’ moonshine. Just some good ol’ boys• yeah. Guest appearance by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, gritty vocals up front courtesy of Johnny and Donnie Van Zant, and songs that range from the rockin’ “Oklahoma” to the not quite so rockin’ “What’s the World Coming To,” Sometimes I hear a little bit of Replacements in the mix, and that kinda scares me.
