Owls

Owls

Jade Tree

Immediate hit on the ears by a mellow mood and vocals that could only belong to someone named Kinsellas… Yeah, Joan of Arc sleeps, but the Owls have awakened. Tim Kinsellas, Mike Kinsella, and Sam Zurick, all from the Joan Of Arc camp, have grabbed guitarist Victor Villarreal and moved from the scattered inspirations of their last band and moved into the slightly more “rock band” oriented movement of this one. Still that rambling guitar and strange, out of tune vocal timing, but the songs are solid and moving towards the future. Recorded by Steve Albini, this too-short eight song CD is the beginning of a new chapter in music that has flowed beautiful through bands like Cap’n Jazz, American Football, Joan Of Arc, and many more. This is the beauty of anguish and joy moving like oceans across ears.
