Third World

The Ultimate Collection

Hip-O

Over thirteen years, Third World has seen the tides of success ebb and flow, but even today, currently on tour, they’re together and continuing to bring the roots of true reggae to people everywhere. The O’ Jays cover “Now That We’ve Found Love” is known from various movie soundtracks and club play, as well as “Forbidden Love,” but some of the best tracks on the CD are the ones that never made it in the mainstream, such as “Dreamland” or the lovey “Committed.” Third World puts pop and light rock into reggae, and produces a unique selection of Jamaican culture inspired songs. If you’re a fan of either genre, it’s a disc to consider, but keep in mind that this is not Bob Marley and the Wailers, and this is very obvious. Third World must be celebrated for their differences and not their similarities.
