Hudson Falcons

For Those Whose Hearts and Souls Are True

Dunno how they do it, but The Hudson Falcons are fuckin’ ace. Proof? Their second long-player, For Those Whose Hearts and Souls Are True. Perhaps I’m tipped off by the cover of Springsteen’s “Open All Night,” The Hudson Falcons kick out all-American jams with the blue-collar spirit of The Boss • hard-drinkin’, hard-workin’, shit-kickin’, take-no-shit pop-free PUNK ROCK • sounding neither like a bunch of Johnny-come-lately teens who’ve just discovered Blink-182 nor one of past-their-bedtime old fogies who’ve no right to be out on leave from their nursing homes. In more ways than one, then, For Those Whose Hearts and Souls Are True is akin to an equally blue-collar Supersuckers, but only from Jersey. Novel idea? Sure, why not! Compounding this blue-collarness, topics cover “Fallen Heroes,” working (“I’m A Worker,” “Scab”), patriotism (“Requiem For a Patriot”), “Wild Hearts,” and “Loyalty.” Again, ace. This is real rock n’ roll, kids.
