Patti Rothberg

Candelabra Cadabra

Cropduster

Soft and melodic melodies that play with a light mystic psychedelia, but not without a sense of humor. A touch of ballad guitar moves, a handful of rock grooves, and a kiss on the cheek of glam. Some of the imagery here reminds me of Stevie Nicks, but I’m finding Patti much more modern. An edge to her vocals that slides against the skin, and when she hits David Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream,” I swoon. There’s still songs that glitter with the light from candles and jewels and dreams, but the flow still pushes forward into the night that’s right now.
