The Other 99

At the Eleventh Hour

Cropduster

Cute ’60s influenced happy pop with some sadness in the delivery of the lyrics. Beatles in the ears, but that happens sometimes. When the sadness gets really sad, it’s still got that pop sound, but the music moves more into a slow city street feel, like rock and roll in the rain. Touches of a Julian Cope twang in the vocals sometimes, and slight build-ups into a strong UK sound, like being in the parking lot of a U2 concert – or hanging outside of a Waterboys show. There’s some nice mandolin hitting at times, and an accordion that makes me smile, but it’s the pop that makes me the happiest.
