Blueline Medic

The Apology Wars

Fueled By Ramen

This Australian quartet follows up their US debut EP with another Fueled By Ramen release, this time a full 11 songs. This is mostly mid- to slow-tempo indie rock with obvious emo leanings. I like the faster stuff, where the singer has a world-weariness reminiscent of The Psychedelic Furs’ Richard Butler. When they slow down, he can sound eerily like Morrissey, and well, as big a Smiths fan as I am, I’d rather have somebody new on the scene sound a bit like Butler than a lot like Morrissey. Lead-singer comparisons aside, this is solid stuff with arty lyrics that don’t get too pretentious.
