Indie Choice 2001

Various Artists

Mod Music

Scratchy guitars, thoughtful lyrics (that they wrote themselves), a slight county twang, soundtrack quality tunes galore, and the winners of the 2001 Indie Band Search (sponsored by Airwalk, Pearl Drums, Gibson, and Urban Outfitters, among others) make for one fully good CD. If you’ve just about gone crazy trying to find something with a new sound, a refreshing attitude, or just a new voice in general, then you’ll enjoy Indie Choice 2001 as much as I did. While all the songs have a certain folky appeal, they’re so different, happy, clean, and pure that it doesn’t even become an issue. Don’t miss the completely sweet “So Beautiful” by Dogma I, the slightly Beach Boys sounding “Disposable” by The Churchills, or the moving hometown anthem “Belong” by Wobbleshop. Give your ears a break away from the Top 40 and get a little indie in your life.
