Tight and together indie rock, falling alongside the more upbeat post punk bands with that melodic and dynamic drive that hits like Jimmy Eat World or sometimes The Get Up Kids. At times the style seems a little contrived, falling for the same formula, and I don’t know about a bunch of California kids singing emotive songs about the Midwest and the highway drive. Caught between love and loss, and always waking up on the wrong side of the romance. Still, when the drums hit that steady beat and the guitar falls to a whisper, letting the bass carry the tune before the band explodes into action, I can’t help but feel my pulse quicken. The quietest moments shine the brightest, and the energy makes those moments even better.
