Holly Figueroa

Dream In Red

Indiegrrl

It seems that the influence of Ani DiFranco just keeps growing. Holly Figueroa seems to have picked more than a small bit of inspiration from the Buffalo singer/songwriter, but she has managed to still find her own voice and not merely be an Ani clone. Solid guitar work and strong vocals are built on a foundation of well-crafted songs. There are times on the album where I wished Figueroa would have cut loose. It seemed that she was holding back on the raw emotion and power, and really needed to let it fly. All told, though, Dream In Red is a very engaging and thoughtful record.
