Looking Good
Looking Good Records is like the younger brother to its parent label, Good Looking, always vying for respect while the latter gets all the credit. While some siblings strike out in completely different directions to avoid comparison, this is not the case with GLR/LGR. In fact, one needs a fine-toothed comb to find the distinction.
However, when you’re as good as the UK label and its imprint, what does it really matter? These second and third installments of the Looking Back series offer classic tracks and serious hidden treasures to be mined in the field of atmospheric drum n’ bass, validating the GLO family’s burgeoning reputation. Together, these discs make the perfect chill-out session. With the staccato breakbeat of drum n’ bass, the listener is massaged with silky Roy Ayers-like synths and melodies and strong, jazzy underpinnings. The dance floor meets the Quiet Storm with schmoove cuts by acts like PFM, Seba, Regez, and Nu-Moon. The collection is a real, smooth hookah session in your favorite hipster bar and a good look into an LTJ Bukem set (though Good Looking’s Earth compilation’s a bit more inspired).
