Holiday Flyer

I Hope

Darla

Remember The Sundays? Me too. Do you adore Mazzy Star? I thought so. Well, then it’s time to quit reading record reviews and hunt down a copy of Holiday Flyer’s CD, I Hope. Katie Conley has all of the delicate yet infectious vocal stylings of Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star or The Sundays’ Harriet Wheeler. Holiday Flyer isn’t derivative, but rather a rare siren that can be mentioned with these other great groups and great vocalists.

That feature’s cinematographer, Joana Pimenta, has now co-directed with Queirós one of the most expansive political films we’ve seen this year, Dry Ground Burning. Lily and Generoso interviewed Pimenta at AFI Fest earlier this month.
