Mary Prankster & Colouring Lesson
Love Has a Rumble
After running into well-documented problems with her label, Mary Prankster decided to strike out on her own, starting up her own label, Palace Coup Records. Her first mission was to reissue her Roulette Girl CD; following that, she wanted to present her music on her terms. Failure or success, it would be all her responsibility. The first new music from Palace Coup stays true to the name and the mission of doing things differently — perhaps even revolutionary. Love Has a Rumble is being issued as a promo-only CD for select radio stations and music journalists. But the song is also being given away for free on the Internet. A recent check of the download count stood in excess of 1200 downloads. The song “Love Has a Rumble,” produced by Mary Prankster, is a collaboration with Mary P. and the ultra smooth ska band Colouring Lesson. The song works very well with the reggae grooves and Mary Prankster’s sexy, playful vocals. If the plan is to getting people aching for the third Mary Prankster album, I think it’s working.
