Sting

…All This Time

AMC

The hits we associate Sting with have been slowed down, lounged up, and now resurrected in breathy sweetness that we would normally expect only from songs like “Fragile.” On …All This Time, classics like “Roxanne,” “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You,” and “Every Breath You Take” have been delayed and jazz injected. While this new experimental remixing sound isn’t for the stone strong, unmovable Sting fan, anybody who appreciates smooth jazz (and Sting) will find this disc very pleasing. Recorded on September 11th (talk about a coincidence), Sting has dedicated the album to “those who lost their lives on that day.” It’s unmentioned as to if any of the funds collected from the sales of …All This Time will go to the September 11th Fund, but if it doesn’t, at least the acknowledgement offers humility.
