The Lawrence Arms

Apathy And Exhaustion

Fat

A very solid, very impressive pop-punk album. The blanket terms of “emo” and “pop punk” make it harder to describe albums, but this one definitely qualifies for “emo pop punk” status. The Lawrence Arms are sort of a watered down Ataris or Saves The Day, without that high-pitched whiny voice, but not nearly as catchy. My personal favorite on the album is “Brickwall Views,” with thoughtful, sob story lyrics about not knowing each other anymore. All in all, they’re the sort of band that’ll have you bobbing your head along with the tunes, but not really singing along.
