Stone Sour

Stone Sour

Roadrunner Records

Grrrr… This is some very tough guy chugga chgugga metalcore with lots of cadence like drum beats and distorted guitars. The press sheets say that this isn’t a Slipknot side project, but it is… kind of. Two members of the band are in Stone Sour, yet Stone Sour existed before Slipknot, so there you have it.

Fans of Slipknot will love Stone Sour. The music is extremely aggressive, heavy, tough, and brutal. At times, the band reminds me of Biohazard crossed with Slayer, and at other times, Dillinger Four.

Stone Sour is a testament to how (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) talented Corey from Slipknot is. The entire album is fantastically recorded, the guitar riffs furious and honest, and his voice is truly threatening! I can say nothing condescending about this record! It’s very well done, and I think it beats the hell out of anything I’ve ever heard by Slipknot. This is a high quality record that will satisfy just about any fan of hardcore punk crossed with metal.
