Oneida/Liars

Atheists, Reconsider

Arena Rock

OK, lets get this straight. Two bands, one CD, each doing the others songs. Cool! These noisy combos, both from Brooklyn are well matched, tossing about sheets of noisy guitar and lockstep beats. While nothing here is as illuminating as either band’s “standard” releases (particularly The Liars’ incredible …Monument record from earlier this year), it will certainly appeal to fans of both bands, and hearing different takes on each bands material is interesting. The Liars “Dorothy Taps the Tin Man Twice,” a belated bit of soundtrack for The Wizard of Oz is unsettling, but cool. If fact, the only negative about this set is that it’s too short.
