Riseup [EP]

*69

“Riseup” has everything a house hit needs: a driving 4/4 pounding beat, percussive synths and that anthem that claws into your head and refuses to let go. Vocalist Tamara Wallace is truly inspirational, carrying on that Martha Wash tradition of belting out the gospel lyrics like a true believer. All three mixes are compelling and could warrant a crowd on the dancefloor. Peter Rauhofer gives the track an atavistic, early Detroit feel, while Junior Vasquez opens with banging percussion that melts into a tech/housey joint; and Murk’s club mix just bangs the living shit out of the song. His is definitely the best, but all three will have you moving.
