The Brite Side

The Brite Side

The Lifeless Lady EP

This is a brief yet promising 5-track debut EP, on which down-to-earth folk rock takes flight towards shimmering country grandness. The opening “All Or Nothing” is the best of the lot, a solid slab of Son Volt Americana. The rest of the EP borrows heavily from Counting Crows, and gets away with it. Yet, the Brite Side’s success rests on the strength of their songwriting; on here, they more often than not convince. Further records will need something to set them more clearly apart from everybody else doing this exact same thing, but as long as Jason Misrahi continues to sing as wonderfully as he does and the musicianship remains tight and expressive, the Brite Side will continue to attract new listeners.
