Diego

Instant Reality

Kanzleramt

It’s always weird trying to review this kind of music, as there’s only so many ways you can refer to something as “trippy.” Well, this Diego album is definitely “trippy,” to say the least. In fact, it’s actually quite entrancing and good.

The beats here are wonderful, smooth and passively aggressive. Instant Reality reminds me of mid-‘90s rave stuff, in that the beats aren’t super fast. Instead, they come at the listener at a nice, head-bobbing pace.

The constant theme throughout the record is contentedness and peace; everything about Instant Reality is warm and positive, especially the dreamier, more psychedelic songs. The music on this disc doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it is what it is: well recorded, positive and bouncy techno, for people who like to dance and cut loose.
