Twenty Stone Blatt

Hard rocking power-pop duo Nutrajet doesn’t fool around on this two-disc party manifesto. They take their cue from Cheap Trick and British 1970s glam rock, while another give-away is their cover version of Aussie-punks The Saints’ “(I’m) Stranded,” as good a selection as any. Not particularly subtle, Nutrajet knows every trick in the rock ‘n’ roll manual, and they don’t stop until they’ve pulled them all out – in an utterly convincing manner, no less. This is likely why they decided to top an already nicely rocking album with the inclusion of a bonus disc (Sideswiped), featuring the band’s run through seven favorite rock classics. Aside from the Saints reprise, we get songs from Rich Kids, Cheap Trick, MC5, Creation, Small Faces and – somewhat inexplicably •- Roxy Music. Sometimes great, sometimes merely copious, Nutrajet is always fun and delightfully invigorating.
