Amazombies
Bitches & Stitches
Go-Kart
Recorded in one mammoth 12-hour session, Seattle trio Amazombies brilliantly captures their tense fury on this first full-length disc. They come across as riot grrrls Babes in Toyland meshing it up with female street punks The Distillers. Clocking in at a whooping thirty minutes, Amazombies deliver a set brash enough to leave you gasping for air by the end, even pulling off a surprisingly un-shit version of the King’s “Riot in Cell Block #9.” Far more interesting, though, are their own tracks • check the jagged “World of Gray,” the hard-hitting “You Know” and the wonderfully aggravating “Hell.” Three distinct vocalists, aggressively captivating performances and tremendous energy all serve to set Amazombies apart from your regular mindless punk rock follower. Reclaiming the ethics if not the extrovert politics of riot grrrl for its own, Bitches & Stitches is a stylish and furious debut, worthy the attention of any self-respecting punk rocker out there.
