Trapdoor Fucking Exit

Devil’s Egg EP

No Idea

Oh baby! These guys are so ridiculously good, it’s almost unfair to all the other bands out there. Trapdoor Fucking Exit are from Sweden, and they rock out in an angular fashion, similar to Drive Like Jehu – though, TFE are much faster and more aggressive than those guys.

This EP offers two new songs, the punishing “Devil’s Egg” and the melodic, Hoover-sped-up “Alien City.” Both songs showcase the lead vocalist’s expertly grizzled and rough screaming style, similar to a young Justin Trosper (Unwound). The guitars are really off kilter and discordant, and play all manner of dark and brooding melodies. The drums are frantic and fevered, sounding like a train on the first song, and like the end of the world on the second song.

For extra measure, the folks at No Idea have included two extra songs: “Intruder,” from their Be Not Content album, and “New Spark,” from their self-titled full length. There are few bands as intimidating and completely destructive as Trapdoor Fucking Exit, and this cheaply priced four song EP is a testament to their greatness.
