Goodbye my Four Track

Pandacide

This solo release from Logan Whitehurst (member of The Velvet Teen, and already a solo artist under the moniker Jr. Science Club) is quirky – almost overwhelmingly so. Think They Might be Giants, or the music to a Super Mario game. An all-star group of guests from all over the indie underground (members of Death Cab For Cutie, Pedro The Lion, Tsunami Bomb, The Roots Of Orchis, Frisk and The Velvet Teen – phew!) add distinction and some admirable musical flourishes. In places, Whitehurst’s true musicality shines, but as a whole, Goodbye my Four Track works better as a novelty than a proper album. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
