Well, whadaya know?
A learning curve! Here at The Sound of the Crowd, we’ve had a lot of fun mocking the efforts of fans of the TV series “Angel” to save it from cancelation, and we want to continue to do so in the future. In order to do that we must have “clean hands and composure,” hence the following public washing.
Even if we (is that getting annoying yet?) still liked the series, we find fans pouring thousands of dollars into “billboard trucks” promoting a television show to be in bad taste and even morally questionable. We’ve also pointed out, clucking from the moral high ground, that fans of Willow & Tara, the lesbian couple on “Buffy,” showed their love for those characters by raising over $8,000 for a suicide crisis hotline for gay youth.
Okay, enough with the royal “we” already…
It’s been brought to my attention that some Angel fans have similarly gotten the right idea about how to honor a series you like: They’ve raised $11,233.00 to date for a foodbank in Los Angeles.
Clearly, I can’t make fun of them for that, and must raise a shakey glass in salute. I’m strangely proud of the fact that it was a “Kitten” (Willow & Tara fan) who made me aware of this; we have our beliefs, but we play fair, and doing good is doing good.
Now would some other group of “Angel” fans please do something foolish so I can get back to the mockery?
