The Sonograph EP

Acuarela

I’m not sure how I ended up with this EP. From what information I’ve been able to glean, The Sonograph is a Spain-only release. I don’t know what kind of a Spanish following we’ve got here at Ink 19 that would merit us receiving import promos, but I’m not complaining. This is top-notch progressive alt-country all the way. It opens with “Albatross” and “Perish Room.” These songs are slow, somber and pensive, but they never give in to brooding or self-pity. The instrumental tracks “Bijou,” “Mosaic II” and “Misrach” are all exquisite slices of backwoods experimentalism, strewn across summer evening and deep space palettes. Yep, I’m thoroughly impressed.
