The Sound of the Crowd

Go, Joe!

I just saw–on The Daily Show, of all places–the footage of this angry Senate hearing.

The description in that story does not do justice to the contemptuous disdain with which Joe Biden hissed his condescending, sarcastic rebuke to Ashcroft’s refusal to turn over the ‘torture’ memos.

And good on him, I say. We need more Democrats getting pissed off and standing up. Come to think of it, a few more truly liberty-minded Republicans wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

But read the story and, if you can, find and see the footage. It’s remarkable. You’re just not used to seeing that much pure, dripping, malicious contempt on the Senate floor.

And if anyone deserves it, it’s Ashcroft.
