This is the first Sceptic album in five years, and while I’m not sure what they’ve been doing during that time, it’s obvious that they haven’t been trying to get any better. Unbeliever’s Script is a corny, embarrassing and ridiculous album that will make most metal fans laugh at how weak it is.
First off, the guitars have that weird compressed sound that was popular in the early 1990s, and it’s very annoying. Second, the guitar solos are too long and over the top; they remind me of Marty Friedman of Megadeth, whose solos I never much preferred. The drums are too low in the mix, and the snare drum has a really empty sound, kind of like these guys hired a black metal studio drummer for this album. The vocalist has a really phony growl; he tries to come off as intimidating, which he’s not. Overall, the album is boring, silly and laughable. If you like your metal watered down and wearing lace panties, give Unbeliever’s Script a try.
