Another damn Kerry flip-flop
I think we’ll all enjoy this one. You know how Bush refuses to specifically condemn the swift boat for lies ad, despite the fact that the groups’ credibility is in shreds? And instead, insists that he thinks all so-called “527” ads, or those paid for by “outside groups” are “bad for the system?”
Everybody remember all that? Beautiful. Well, the next time he tries that on, some Democrat, somewhere…god knows who…should look him right in the eye, and say:
“[T]hat’s what freedom of speech is all about. … People have the right to run ads. They have the right to do what they want to do, under the – under the First Amendment in America.”
–George W. Bush, March 5, 2000, on Face the Nation.
Mr. Bush was speaking of the independent groups that were running ads attacking his Republican primary opponent, Senator John McCain (R-AZ). And yes, that was the same group.
And yes, that is the same Senator John McCain who’s now decided he wants to run for President again enough to ignore the smell of dogshit all over his shoes.
Whoops, that flip-flop didn’t have anything to do with John Kerry, did it? Silly me.
