The Sound of the Crowd

In case you were worried

I ain’t never gonna be a metalhead. I say this after looking in on VH1’s 40 Least Metal Moments. Even giving the metal experts interviewed the benefit of the doubt that they weren’t 100% serious, or that VH1 wasn’t sending them up: They still make metal out to be a genre that’s boring and stupid.

And one whose fans are so fucking rigid they can’t bear to see their erstwhile Gods stray from the reservation. Because almost all the “shocking” non-metal moments I saw were the only times the acts veered towards interesting.

Fortunately, the Biography channel was showing the Bobby Darin episode. Say what you will about Bobby Darin, he wasn’t boring, stupid or rigid, and he was almost always interesting.

Unlike, say, 99% of the metal bands out there.
