Indie artist Tamara Bedricky’s debut album, Through These Eyes, is stuffed with enough slick, melodic and contemporary pop-rock to mark her as one to watch.
This Detroit singer/songwriter’s style may mirror the likes of Michelle Branch, but there’s no plagiarism here. In fact, songs like the effervescent opener “Head Over Heels” and the spiky “So Am I” could have a life of their own in the Top 40, if given a chance. The deeply personal ballad “A Million Miles” easily could be feature during the closing credits of teen dramas such as Dawson’s Creek, while the horns of the upbeat “Addicted” offer something a little different compared to the conventional, yet undeniably memorable pop-rockers “Beautiful” and “Coming Clean.”
There’s nothing groundbreaking or especially innovative on Through These Eyes, but there’s no denying Bedricky has recorded an album of well written, catchy pop-rock to match her more illustrious major label peers.
