Yesterday I was trying and failing to remember the name of the vice-presidental candiate who had to withdraw when his mental-health problems were revealed.

Just now I was re-reading the Hunter Thompson sections of “Rolling Stone Magazine: The Uncensored History” by Robert Draper. A necessary book for understanding everything both damned and miraculous about boomer culture as embodied by Jann Wenner, BTW.

And there the information was, on page 188. It was Thomas Eagleton, who ran (at first) with George McGovern in 1972. Thanks, Dr. Thompson…
