The Day Traders

self-released

Here’s a fun sounding band with a lightweight pop sound. The song titles promise some potentially depressing tunes, but whatever sadness lurks here is completely swallowed up a more lush than expected drum/guitar sound. Leading the disc, we find “Tonight I Want to be Sad.” Despite lyrics like “You’re never gonna let me down but your never gonna lift me up,” this is a happy album. While it seems made for tears, they’re not there; the album as a whole is kind of a friendly, homey discussion of love. It’s not bad love, or abandonment, but just a calm review off the sort of things that can go wrong. Clear vocals, simple, yet endearing tunes and a crisp mix make this a solid listening experience.
