The Sound of the Crowd

Aw, Andy

I just found out that Andy Bell, Erasure’s frontman, lead singer and co-songwriter has HIV and AIDS. Apparently this came out shortly before their new album (my review of which should be up at on Ink 19 sometime soon) was released, but I’d missed it.

My first instinct was to wonder if I should change anything in the review, but then I realized no, he wouldn’t want that. Let the music stand on it’s own or not based on my opinion of it as music, not on my suddenly feeling all motherly and concerned.

I’m very sorry, though–Bell and his songwriting partner Vincent Clarke are one of the great teams in synthpop. I wish him continued good health.
