Brevity is the soul of wit

Brevity is the soul of wit

Believe it or not, that’s a credo that I try to live by. Most of you may know I don’t always succeed, but I do try. I’m thinking of it today because of the latest shitstorm that is flying around the liberal blogs because of Karl Rove having said:

“Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers. Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.”

There is, understandably, quite a lot of rancor and I-know-you-are-but-what-Am-I responses to this smearing of liberal motives going on now. God knows I agree with most of this response, and most of it is impassioned, some of it is eloquent, and most of it is at length.

And I’m not linking to any of it. Because, to me, what it looks like (today, at least) is just a lot of hot air. Because nobody is saying the simple, unvarnished truth.

Karl Rove is a LIAR.
Donald Rumsfeld is a LIAR.
George W. Bush is a LIAR.

That’s it. That’s all. Just that and nothing more. They are big, fat, stinking filthy liars and right now, today, I don’t want to expend any more of whatever gifts I’ve got for impassioned eloquence on them.

Maybe tomorrow, but not today.
