Oh, you have got to be kidding me
Lucianne Goldberg is the woman who told Linda Tripp to surreptitiously tape record phone conversations with a woman who thought she was a friend. I think most of us, Republican or Democrat, guerilla or moderate, can agree that’s unethical.
Her son, Jonah Goldberg, is one of those armchair warriors who is very gung-ho about the war in Iraq, the realities of which seem to excape his grasp. The kind of fellow who responds embarassingly to questions about why he isn’t enlisted and serving there if he belives so much in the war.
Here, he equates what Linda Tripp did (and his mom, though he doesn’t mention the connection) with Mark Felt/”Deep Throat.”
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Felt did what he did for motives that have little to nothing to do with the high-minded stuff of New York Times editorials and Bob Woodword’s speeches-in-praise-of-me.
BTW, the celebrated writer and editor for The Washington Post spells his name “Woodward.” It’s possible Goldberg is trying to make a playground-caliber comment on Woodward’s writing style…but I tend to doubt it.
