Okay, here’s the thing about electronic dance music: there are basically two genres. You got your genre with the banal lyrics, but the retro-dance, electric disco beats are so bulletproof you’re too busy getting down to care. Let’s call that the Madonna genre. And you got those bands that are actually trying to write timeless songs over the great drum sounds, like oh, say, I don’t know, Depeche Mode.

And then you got a band like Ozone Cocktail, which is enough of each to be worth putting on as background music for the so inclined, but not enough of either to be truly satisfying.
