The Rembrandts

Choice Picks

Fuel 2000

Anyone who believes “I’ll Be There For You” is The Rembrandts’ sole musical legacy needs just one listen to Choice Picks to change their mind. Yes, the theme from Friends is the duo’s biggest hit, and is re-visited on this collection, but there’s plenty more to the combined talents of Danny Wilde and Phil Solem than just that song.

The power-pop genius of the rocking “This House Is Not A Home,” the irresistible melody of “Don’t Hide Your Love” and the gentle beauty of “Chase The Clouds Away” effortlessly prove the writing chemistry that has been evident between Wilde and Solem since they formed the band in 1989. All the songs on Choice Picks have been re-recorded from a list requested by the band’s fans, but the fresh perspective given to the likes of “Johnny, Have You Seen Her?” and The Rembrandts’ first hit, the brilliant “Just The Way It Is, Baby,” improves upon the originals rather than dilutes their undeniable appeal.

The new song, “Don’t Give Me Up” – along with a forthcoming tour – shows that The Rembrandts still have a real relevance in today’s music scene, even if the success of “I’ll Be There For You” was a distant decade ago.
