Truth to Power

From Ted Rall: Probably a go!

I have good news to report.

My lawyer’s firm has tentatively agreed to pursue my case against Ann Coulter for slander and libel. There a number of technical and legal issues to resolve before we file suit, but I wanted to thank you again for your extremely generous pledge and to alert you that I will probably be sending you information on how to send your payment within the next few weeks. (You’ll be able to send a check by mail or use PayPal, the online payment system.)

As you are probably aware, lawsuits are expensive and time-consuming endeavors. A lot of money and time can be saved by careful consideration of issues like choosing the correct court to file in, making sure each count is strongly based in case law, etc. Failure to do these things results in additional hearings, which cost money and delay justice. Since the goal here is to hold Coulter to account as quickly as possible, and because I don’t want to waste your pledge money, I am going to proceed as, ahem, conservatively as possible.

Thank you for your patience and support. Feel free to write me any time with questions or comments.

Very truly yours,

Ted
