Breaking Laces

Breaking Laces’ 2006 release Lemonade is perhaps one of the most refreshing discs of the year. The Brookyln band has convinced me that there is still such a thing as an amazing rock record.
Lead singer, William Hartong’s voice is passionate and pleading. Songs like “Call You Home” and “(The) Ocean (That Lies Between Us)” offer a more mellow feel, while tracks like “Get Up Today” offer a bit heavier feel. The 12 songs balance one another out, resulting in a great flow. From track one, you’ll find yourself engaged in Hartong’s voice and the stories he weaves for you during each track.
Breaking Laces has proved that the best albums are about the music – not the hype and glamour that some get entangled in. Laced with amazing lyrics and some good old fashioned indie rock, this is sure to be one CD you’ll find yourself replaying.
Key tracks include “Get Up Today,” “Garbanzo Beans,” and “Call You Home.”
