Starting listening to this incredible boxset again yesterday and came to a stunningly obvious conclusion: These boys flat get it. One of the best bands America has ever produced- in any genre. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs took bluegrass music from the hands of Bill Monroe (they both were Bluegrass Boys prior to forming this band) and expanded its reach. Heady stuff, indeed.
