Lovers and Stars

Sassy and polished pop/rock is what singer-songwriter Melissa Ivey presents on her latest EP, Lovers and Stars, and while it’s hardly groundbreaking stuff, the diversity of her material is interesting.

Opening with the radio-friendly title track, Ivey progresses to the soulful “Eye on the Door” and the frenetic “Far Far Away”, and ends the EP with the acoustic “No Ties To Break”.

The best of the lot is the excellent “Everywhere and Nowhere”, and the strength of her material plus the contributions of noted mixer Jeff Juliano and songwriters Chris Jak and Burton Avere mean that Ivey has made an EP that could take her onto the next level.
