Sleep Is the Enemy

Razor and Tie

Sleep Is The Enemy, from Canadian outfit Danko Jones, features the kind of tongue-in-cheek hard rock that could have been the soundtrack to Jack Black’s School of Rock movie.

It’s dumb, repetitive stuff from a band that unashamedly ape AC/DC in the riffage stakes, but they unfortunately lack the songs or charisma to carry it off. Song after song of thick guitars and shouty vocals soon becomes tiresome, with perhaps only “First Date” rising above the general level of mediocrity.

In fact, I’m sure the kids featured in School of Rock made for a more entertaining band.
