Astronomy Is My Life, But I Love You

Self-Released

As the title suggests, Astronomy Is My Life, But I Love You is an EP that demonstrates Breaking Laces are not your average throwaway pop band.

Despite the slightly perplexing title, the six songs on the EP possess a real melodic presence and an interesting lyrical seam – take the beautiful acoustic song “The Errant Toss” or the slightly left-of-center, yet totally addictive title track as perfect examples of Breaking Laces’ songwriting craft. If you need to be convinced further, check out the soaring “Coast To Coast,” which recalls the cerebral acoustic-based pop rock of Rockwell Church, or the band’s interesting take on religion, “Bad Believer.”

My only complaint is that Astronomy Is My Life, But I Love You is an EP and not a full-length album.
