Love Me Destroyer

The Things Around Us Burn

Suburban Home

What you’ve got in Love Me Destroyer is an aggressive, hardcore-inspired band that wants to be pop-friendly enough to bring in the dough. How else can you explain a song like “Kiss and Tell?”

I don’t want to hear a reason/ I don’t want to start a fight/ Just kiss me and make belive/ that everything’s alright….fall into your arms tonight.

Take these Pete Wentz-ian lyrics, and put them in them in the mouth of a metal-core kid, then put some basic punk rock guitars behind his screams. And so, you arrive at Love Me Destroyer.

Having developed out of the rubble of a band I’ve never heard of (Pinhead Circus), but whom many outlets claim to be “legends” (really?), these Colorado kids are not bad enough to cause me audio pain, but they’re not good either. At least, this album isn’t. It’s average, it’s run of the mill, it’s like most of the crap you’ll walk past at the Warped Tour on your way to something bigger, better and more interesting.
