Let us praise the patriots of Brattleboro
Vt. towns approve Bush ‘indictment’
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. – Voters in two Vermont towns approved measures Tuesday calling for the indictment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for what they consider violations of the Constitution. More symbolic than anything, the items sought to have police arrest Bush and Cheney if they ever visit Brattleboro or nearby Marlboro or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere – if they’re not impeached first.
</em>Kudos to the patriots of Brattleboro, who, seemingly more than most, understand the reality of our nation, to wit:
The majority of the country wants us out of Iraq, yet no one in Washington is speaking seriously about it.
Bush, Cheney et al have committed war crimes, savaged the Constitution, and have admitted to impeachable offenses, yet “impeachment is off the table”, according to the completely worthless Senate Majority leader.
The brave, clear thinking citizens in Brattleboro realize, as everyone should, that we have no representation in Washington. There is no rule of law in this country. Truth means nothing.
But instead of being praised for actually caring enough about their nation to act, they are derided, even in the presentation of the story- this story is named “odd bush warrant” by Yahoo. This is unacceptable. Was there gesture purely symbolic? Certainly. Any form of political protest is. Is it “silly”? Only if you consider the status quo of America, 2008 to be the best we can do. If you consider being mired in illegal and optional wars, ruled over by a king, and the ruination of our economy- all done, most assuredly on purpose– to be fine, then scoff at your fellow citizens who shame the rest of us by actually giving a damn.
Myself, I won’t be satisfied until justice is served and the entire lot of treasonous tyrants hang- and trust me, that is not hyperbole in the slightest- hung, hung until the rope snaps and we stomp their soulless bodies into the mud. But an symbolic indictment? That will do for a start.
