Orchestral flourishes and sweeps of wind and string instruments that evoke cold, hollow dread are painfully stitched onto blasts of black noise, groaning, buckling guitar, while operatic female vocals shift into distressed and tortured white noise shrieks like Khanate’s Alan Dubin, an indecipherable grinding and churning, crashing percussion, paranoid whispers, synths and keyboards howling like ghosts, cold silences, and an understanding of dynamic tension to rival Bernard Herriman’s score for Psycho, leave one with an overwhelming feeling that everything is simply wrong, to match the stench of nausea and smoldering meat coming from your own gut.

Eschewing Satanism, the occult, or a lurid predisposition towards violence, An Epiphanic Vomiting of Blood is inspired by revulsion. A strange mix of fascination and disgust at the human condition — our corrupted morality, the despair of the human condition, the thin latticework of civilization that can collapse at the slightest poke or prod, the rotting flesh shells we are imprisoned in. Gnaw Their Tongues take the visceral obsessions of the vegetarian Carcass (rotting meat is society…) and the negative anger of classic hardcore punk (…and said society is fucked beyond all hope) and attach these themes to a completely new arsenal of sound. It’s like the scariest scene in a horror movie played over and over and over again.
