Truth to Power

Conyers subpoenas Rove…yeah, whatever.

Invoking Obama, House Judiciary Chairman subpoenas Rove

Invoking President Barack Obama, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) has subpoenaed former Bush Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove about his alleged involved in the political prosecution of an Alabama governor and the firings of nine US Attorneys.

The subpoena, approved by an earlier vote of the House, was issued pursuant to “authority granted in H.R. 5 (111th Congress), and calls for Mr. Rove to appear at deposition on Monday, February 2, 2009.”

Specifically, it enjoins Rove “to testify regarding his role in the Bush Administration’s politicization of the Department of Justice, including the US Attorney firings and the prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman.” </em>

Now, I’m not completely certain which Fox News show Rove will appear on February 2nd, but to be sure, he certainly won’t be in front of Congress under oath discussing anything. And time will tell if Obama has a stronger stomach for pursuing the greasy crook, but one has to think that John Conyers is just wasting paper and time with these cute but meaningless gestures. Congress had a chance to stop Rove while he was committing treason and flaunting his contempt for our nation for eight years, but instead puss’d out and wrote Sternly Worded Letters instead. Congress need look no further for an explanation of how they managed to crawl under the belly of the Bush snake, poll-wise.
