Truth to Power

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution

Rarely is there anything on broadcast TV worth watching, but this new show from British chef Jamie Oliver, “Food Revolution”, is amazing. Amazing because it confronts America’s horrible relationship with food, in the “sickest” city in the U.S., Huntington West Virginia.

Watching Oliver battle with the “lunch ladies”, and school bureaucrats intent on keeping funding by following the USDA guidelines- did you know that pizza for breakfast counts for two servings of bread? Or that french fries are a vegetable? Well, watching that hopefully will make you question your own diet- or at least start the process of being active in the choices you make- not the ones “shoved down your throat” by the American food industry.
